Cairo University’s Faculty of Nursing celebrates the graduation of its 57th class in the university’s Grand Hall

Dr. Ahmed Ragab, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs: Our Egyptian ancestors practiced nursing and provided the first training course to introduce methods of healthcare for the injured.

Dr. Fatima Abed, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing: The nursing profession combines science, humanity, skill, compassion, intellect, and heart. Our graduates carry out a noble mission and have proven their ability to face challenges and overcome the most difficult situations.

Dr. Sherine Ghaleb, Head of the Cairo Medical Syndicate: Graduates of the Faculty of Nursing perform a noble mission; they are God’s hand on earth and exert their utmost effort in cooperation with doctors to heal patients.

Dr. Sohair Badr El-Din, Head of the Nursing Sector Committee: The Faculty represents a beacon of academic and professional excellence and has contributed to shaping the future of the profession and its leadership in Egypt and the Arab world.

Dr. Zeinab Mohamed El-Sayed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Nursing for Education and Student Affairs: Graduation day is the culmination of years of study and the beginning of the career path. Graduates represent the Faculty through their ethical and professional commitment.

The Grand Hall at Cairo University witnessed, under the patronage of Dr. University President Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek presided over the graduation ceremony for the 57th graduating class of 2025 from the Faculty of Nursing. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Ragab, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Fatima Abed, Dean of the Faculty; faculty vice deans; heads of academic departments; Dr. Sherine Ghaleb, Head of the Cairo Medical Syndicate; Dr. Sohair Badr El-Din, Head of the Nursing Sector Committee; a number of faculty members and teaching assistants; and the graduates and their families.

The ceremony began with a group photo of the graduates in front of the university dome, with Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek and Dr. Ahmed Ragab present. Inside the hall, the national anthem was played, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran. Speeches were then delivered by graduating class representative Ahmed Nader Gamal, the Head of the Cairo Medical Syndicate, the Head of the Nursing Sector Committee, the Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, the Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Ahmed Ragab. The graduates then took their oath, after which the awards ceremony commenced.

The ceremony concluded with the graduation of the 57th class of 2025. In his speech during the ceremony, Dr. Ahmed Ragab, Vice President of Cairo University for Education and Student Affairs, said that the nursing profession is an ancient profession that extends back thousands of years, and played a major role in ancient Egypt, and that the doctor was called the wise man because he went through all sciences such as philosophy and engineering, and after he gained wisdom, he obtained the degree of medicine. He reviewed the role of the nursing profession during different eras, and that in battles, tents were set up to provide the necessary care for the wounded and injured, in addition to providing the first training course in history to introduce individuals to ways of providing medical care to the injured. He directed the students to be proud of their belonging to Egypt and that they are the descendants of the Pharaohs and carry the genes of their great ancestors, and to be proud of studying within the prestigious Cairo University, and to be proud that they are graduates of the distinguished Faculty of Nursing.

For her part, Dr. Fatima Abed, Dean of the College of Nursing, stated that nursing is not merely a job, but a covenant of compassion and dedication. It is a profession that combines science and humanity, skill and mercy, intellect and heart. She urged the students to uphold the nursing profession, as they carry a noble message that has proven their ability to overcome challenges and difficult situations. She encouraged them to treat each patient as a reminder of the value of what they have learned. She also expressed her gratitude to the faculty members for their efforts throughout the graduates’ studies and to the parents for their support of their children during their education.

Dr. Sherine Ghaleb, Head of the Cairo Medical Syndicate, expressed her delight at attending the nursing school graduation ceremony. She noted that the graduates represent the second half of the medical profession and complement the efforts of doctors, who carry out a noble mission: studying the human body and acting as God’s hand on Earth. She emphasized their dedication to patient healing and urged the students to maintain patient confidentiality and respect their privacy, to treat them gently during their illness and vulnerability, and to treat patients as they would their own families. She encouraged them to be proud of graduating from the prestigious Cairo University and thanked the university administration, the nursing school administration, and the graduates’ parents for their support throughout their five years of study.

Dr. Ghaleb Dr. Sohair Badr El-Din, Head of the Nursing Sector Committee, stated that the Faculty of Nursing at Cairo University is a beacon of academic and professional excellence, having contributed to shaping the future of the profession and its leadership in Egypt and the Arab world. She emphasized that nursing is a noble profession with a profound humanitarian mission to contribute to the healing of patients, a mission that is invaluable. She pointed out that nursing is a calling that involves standing by the patient during their most vulnerable moments, working to help and support them. Addressing the graduates, she said that their graduation day marks the beginning of their professional lives. She advised them to uphold the profession, to be ambassadors for the university everywhere, and to never stop learning, acquiring skills and knowledge, and pursuing postgraduate studies. She also expressed her gratitude to the faculty members who spared no effort in ensuring the graduates received knowledge and education.

Dr. Zeinab Mohamed El-Sayed, the college’s Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, explained that the graduation day is a joint event between the university and the college, representing the culmination of students’ efforts throughout their studies. It marks the beginning of their professional journey and their representation of the college in the job market. She urged the graduates to uphold integrity and dedication in their nursing practice and to treat patients with kindness. She also expressed her gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support during their children’s studies at the college, and to the faculty and administration.

Student Ahmed Nader Gamal, speaking on behalf of the graduates, stated that the graduation ceremony represents the fruit of five years of hard work within the college, during which they overcame numerous obstacles and acquired a wealth of skills and knowledge under the guidance of a distinguished group of professors. He expressed his pride in having studied at Cairo University, a prestigious academic institution, and within the distinguished Faculty of Nursing. He thanked the college administration and faculty members for their comprehensive support of the graduates throughout their studies, and also expressed his gratitude to the parents for their sacrifices and support throughout their children’s journey to graduation.
